What’s your shaping philosophy? Drawing clean lines and knowing all your measurements is very important. There are hundreds of measurements that affect the way a surfboard rides. We make all different types of boards, from single-fins to the latest most high-performance boards for the top World Tour pros. My primary focus is to make the most high-performance boards with the most drive and the most speed.
What led you to become a shaper? Surfing, nature, and art. Shaping is the perfect blend. I get to create, and I feel like my boards are a connection between the surfer riding them and nature.
What do others consider your expertise? Highperformance shortboards and my California models, which are great for WQS guys. These boards translate to great all-around boards for most surfers in most waves.
What do you consider your expertise? I like shaping all boards. Longboards, shortboards, twins, singles, fish, high-performance, you name it.
What are your most popular models? The Pig 2, Piglet, Swift, Gipos, X-20, X-21, and X-16.
What is unique about the boards you shape? Our boards are on the cutting edge of progression, and are the most high-performance boards out there.
How is your shaping influenced by your location? San Diego has a great variety of waves, which helps us design and make lots of boards that are insane for everywhere.
What advice would you give to customers to help them get the best board possible? Know your boards, and always bring them into your shaper. One board is not the solution to every wave. It is all about building up a quiver and having fun.
